Autumn Spells

Sep 06 2005
Time really flies by, the cool breezes of autumn are already making their way in, I love autumn seasons best since the climate is just moderate. My, it …reminds me of our annual medical examination again which is just a few days away. Sigh…ITs the time where you start your day with empty stomach & use all your stored energy to rush to and fro against the crowds of people as you go through a lengthy process where they assess all kinds of tests on you. Good thing the instruments are high tech, or else it’d have taken more time to finish the tests. Though the thought of it makes one feel like a guinea pig. The tests always starts early in the morning & should be finished before lunch where they process it to release the results in the afternoon.
Autumn weather changes have also brought about lots of other changes…I like to venture on different types of food & taste their flavors but, one thing that sounds over the edge is how the local foods & foodstuffs have all been altered in the aspect of flavors. Lately it seems that every dish have become spicy, I’m not against spicy dishes, though seems like they overdid it, I think its crazy to have EVERY dishes with spicy flavor! Anyway, as if thats not enough, last time they also launched a sprite drink w/ spicy flavor. Ha, expect more to come in winter!
Ah, one of my favorites in the autumn are the mooncakes. Mooncakes are here & there in their variety of flavors packaged in cute boxes. I’ve been trying the fruit flavored ones recently. Strawberry, pineapple, peach etc. Indeed the Mid-autumn festival (中秋节 zhong qiu jie) is drawing near. Unlike in the philippines, where mooncake or mid-autumn festival is usually celebrated in the form of dice game or any game, people here just spend it simply by eating mooncake together with their friends & families. ***Happy Mooncake festival to all!***
